Today, we’re asking for your help. You, yes YOU! This charity was established in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Maria, also following Hurricane Irma – and the combination of disaster that these storms brought to the Virgin Islands, St. Croix in particular. And while the storms are long past, and the power is back on (mostly anyway), and people are returning to normal and new routines are emerging, tourists are returning to our resorts and beaches – there is still much work to be done. There are many in our community still in need of support and assistance. Many are still traumatized and barely getting by. Public school students are still not enjoying the benefit of a full day’s education, many elderly and sick are still in the states, unable to return home for care. Things still aren’t 100% and they may not be for sometime. But rather than waiting, biding our time until things get better – we’re here to do our part, to work every day to see what we can do to support the island and its residents.
This includes developing an after school program to supplement the education that so many are lacking. It includes providing funding for organizations doing good work in community development. And it also includes leveraging our strong volunteer network to be boots on the ground in supporting rebuild and recovery efforts.
But we still need funding to support these efforts and to keep operations going. So we’re asking for you to make a commitment to us, and to the work we’re doing for St. Croix.
